What influences our hair texture?
The texture or volume of your hair results from your hair either being straight, wavy, curly or kinky. The degree of our wave, curl or kink is mainly determined by the shape of our hair follicles.
Hair follicles that are round produce straight hair. The more a follicle's shape is flattened (or ellipsoid), the larger the wave, curl or kink, resulting in your hair displaying greater volume.
Other factors that are important in your hairs texture or volume include:
The length of your hair
Your hair type - diameter and degree of curl or wave or kink.
The porosity of your hair - the higher your hair's porosity, the flatter it will be.
The presence of oils or hair styling products etc, on your hair.
