Our Story
Who We Are
Starting in 2019, following a discussion in a tearoom at Imperial College London, Dr Jonathan Palmer decided to take the decades of chemical engineering and biochemical experience on the team and use it to take on and transform the hair and beauty sector and finally put the customer first.
We travelled the country sourcing the best equipment to put into our hair laboratory and read all possible scientific literature to bring you state-of-the-art hair analysis, know-how and the best-proven advice possible.
HairKnowHow is unique within the hair and beauty sector. Our scientists developed their biological, bio-engineering and analysis expertise outside of the hair and beauty sector. This broad biological know-how means that HairKnowHow can apply wide-ranging and leading assays used within other areas of medicine to hair. In addition, this also means we are not affiliated with any hair care product manufacturers through our previous roles, making HairKnowHow truly impartial in our product recommendations and reviews.
How We Work
We opted to go directly to you, our clients, creating a straightforward sample retrieval, analysis and reporting model. We include a personalised hair report complete with tailored advice just for you. With less complexity comes less wasteful use of precious resources. All with honest pricing because we believe that getting the most out of your hair should not be a luxury. As part of our service delivery model, we also produce educational content detailing the latest hair science thinking via our YouTube channel.

HairKnowHow and the Environment
The team at HairKnowHow takes our environmental responsibility seriously. We want to live in a beautiful, biodiverse world unpolluted and preserved for all future generations.
We, therefore, ensure as much as possible that items used from all areas of our business, from our sample retrieval kits to our laboratory consumables, are either made from recycled or compostable materials and that we minimise energy usage. We regularly review our business best practices to ensure that we go above and beyond in this regard.
