How to take your hair sample

There are several ways you can obtain the sample from your natural hairpiece

1. Brush the hairpiece using a clean, unused brush and collect the hair that gets trapped within the bristles- this ensures the hair sample represents hair from throughout the hairpiece

2. Wash or wet the hairpiece and collect the hair that falls out.

3. Run your fingers through the hairpiece or shake it about over a piece of clean paper and collect the hair that falls out

4. Using sharp, clean scissors, cut a small amount of hair from one or multiple positions within the hairpiece.

Using collection methods 1, 2, or 3 ensures the hair sample represents hair from throughout the hairpiece. To analyse a specific area of the hairpiece, we'd recommend method 4.

Hair Sample Requirements

How and where you take the hair sample depends on what qualities of the hair you would like to measure.

For the following tests, a minimum of 20 fibres is required:

• Hair Cuticle Test

• Hair Porosity Test

• Hair Type Analysis
